Business Development Highlights

NL, Canada Visits NL, Europe

November 17-21, 2014 marked the first Newfoundland and Labrador international business development mission to the Netherlands. The program was delivered in partnership by Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters – NL Chapter; the Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development; and, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.

Eleven business delegates representing seven companies from the province participated in the week long program.

Delegates demonstrated their products and services at the Marine Equipment Technology Tradeshow, participated in a full slate of meetings facilitated by a business-to-business matchmaking consultant, toured a number of ship yards and ship repair yards, and were hosted for two days of meetings and tours in and around the Rotterdam area. Immediate feedback from delegates has been very positive.

The mission features the Arctic Technology Conference  (ATC) – the Arctic focused instalment of the flagship conference - Offshore Technology Conference (OTC).

In 2016, ATC will be held in St. John's and this international business development Mission to ATC in 2015 will be the ideal opportunity for industry, academia and government to jointly promote the province as The Path to the Arctic, The World's Cold-Ocean Laboratory and the growing economy advancing in oil and gas, ocean technologies and Arctic-related sectors.

Export Insight of the Month:

Enterprise Canada Network

A new website called Enterprise Canada Network (ECN) is about to make the life of small- to medium-sized companies (SMEs) looking for an easy way to get new contracts abroad a whole lot easier.

The website works by matching profiles of selling companies (who post what kind of services and products they have expertise) and buying companies (who post what kind of services and products they are looking for).

The website is a joint venture between Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) and Export Development Canada (EDC). The design of the website is geared towards the needs of Canadian SMEs, whose main challenges are the time to develop opportunities and not knowing where to look for them.

Export Development Canada

Export Development Canada (EDC) is Canada's export credit agency, offering financial and risk management solutions to help businesses expand into the international market. Learn how they can help your company by visiting the EDC website, or by contacting Patrick Murphy.
