Visitor Services Program

This program ensures the overall development, implementation and management of policies and programs related to the professional operation of nine provincial visitor information centres including visitor information centres that are operated by regional tourism groups through the delivery of the Visitor Information Centre Grants Program.

Visitor Information Centres

The Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation operates eight Visitor Information Centres (VICs). St. John's International Airport and the Deer Lake Regional Airport are open year-round. Port aux Basques, Deer Lake Highway, Notre Dame Junction, Clarenville, Whitbourne, and Argentia are open seasonally, usually May to September. The province partners with 23 regional VICs. VIC staff are often the first personal contact for many visitors. They have a direct impact on the visitor's impression of our province and tourism revenues as they encourage longer stays and travel in all regions of the province. Annually, our provincial Travel Counsellors speak with over 150,000 people.
